As more companies have created their headquarters into the area and expanded, creating more jobs, more and more people have moved to places across the state. But which cities in Washington have seen the fastest growth since 2010?
The No. 1 spot goes to Kirkland, according to a report from HomeSnacks that uses data from the U.S. Census Bureau. Kirkland's population in 2010 was 47,677.
It grew to 88,079 people, according to the most recent data from the Census Bureau's 5-year estimates. Its growth rate -- which is calculated by subtracting the population in 2010 from the current population, and then dividing that number by the population in 2010 -- was 84.7%. The Eastside city saw its population grow by more than 40,000 people since 2010.
Coming in as the second fastest growing city in Washington was Ridgefield, a small city in Clark County that saw its population grow by more than 2,800 people over the past decade, up to 7,178.
Several other cities located in King County made the list of the fastest growing cities, including Burien, Sammamish and Kent.
But Seattle itself didn't rank as one of the fastest growing cities in Washington according to its growth rate, the report found.
