Aston Villa reportedly have no intention of buying Italy international Nicolò Zaniolo from Galatasaray, but are looking at Juventus-owned Matias Soulé instead.
The Premier League side brought in Zaniolo last summer on loan from Galatasaray at a cost of €5m, with an option to buy for €22.5m plus another €15.5m in bonuses.
However, after just three goals in 38 competitive appearances for Aston Villa, and somehow 12 yellow cards, Zaniolo failed to do enough to warrant that expense.
Tuttomercatoweb suggest this evening that while Villa have decided against activating the release clause for Zaniolo, they are still turning towards Serie A for his replacement.
Aston Villa go from Zaniolo to Soule
They are interested in Juventus-owned Argentine talent Soulé, who has impressed so far this season on loan at Frosinone.
His valuation is believed to be around €30m and he already turned down some lucrative proposals from the Saudi Pro League in January.
As for Zaniolo, he could well return to Italy too, as Milan and Fiorentina are interested in a new loan deal with Galatasaray.
