Napoli have started targeting controversial winger Mason Greenwood, keen to compete with Juventus for the Manchester United owned exile.
The 22-year-old Englishman was cast out from the Red Devils last summer following the emergence of videos and photos on social media showing allegedly abusive and controlling behaviour during the 2021-22 season.
In January 2022, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and was later charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behaviour in October 2022. The charges were controversially dropped, and he was dumped off to Getafe, attracting the attention of Juventus.
Napoli target Greenwood
Page nine of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how Napoli have set their sights on Greenwood ahead of the summer, looking to fight with Juventus for the Manchester United owned forward. Getafe are also hoping to keep the 22-year-old, complicating matters.
The 22-year-old is not expected to return to the Red Devils for long in the summer, with his history proving a PR minefield for the Premier League side, so a deal would likely be accessible for both Italian sides.
